Welcome to the 2nd Annual New York City Chefs Week! New York is the culinary capital of America—the logical city to bring together forward-thinkers in food to share their ideas with their peers. At Chefs Week, industry professionals crowd together from across the five boroughs, the country, and the globe to shape the future of our culinary world. Get your hands dirty in gastronomy’s answer to New York Fashion Week.

This year, from Saturday, September 24 through Tuesday, October 4, the city will burst with pride for its hometown chefs—and for the accomplishments and creativity of chefs around the world. This weeklong celebration is fit to pop with chefs’ gatherings, trade events, galas, award shows, New York foodie traditions, newer rituals-in-the-making, and one-of-a-kind debuts.

NY Craft Beer Week 2011

With a food cart tour, pub crawls, and events like Freaktoberfest, Battle of the Awesomeness, and Biscuit & Beer Brunch Kickoff, attendees are sure to be in for a rip-roaring, hip-to-drop-dead, rollicking ol’time. Get the inside scoop on the state of craft beers from the state of New York in the fourth annual nine-day lagerpalooza.

Share Our Strength’s Dine Out for No Kid Hungry
September 18 – 24
Help end childhood hunger by dining out—eat at one of over 5,000 participating restaurants supporting the No Kid Hungry Campaign. Find a restaurant on their interactive map, tell your chef friends, and Dine Out for No Kid Hungry.

16th Annual Harvest in the Square
September 22
Union Square District's celebrated chefs amass to prepare their signature dishes at the epicenter of the Greenmarket movement in the United States. Succumb to the swirl of music, food, drinks, fun, and fall foliage at Union Square Park!

Le Grand Fooding
September 23
Live music and chefs from New York and DC. $15 of each ticket sold goes to Action Against Hunger/ACF International.

7th Annual Vendy Awards
September 24
Called "the Oscars of food for the real New York" by Chef Mario Batali, the Vendy Awards are New York City’s annual competition for the title of Best Street Food Vendor. This fundraiser supports the Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center, a nonprofit organization that provides a voice for the thousands of people who sell food and merchandise on the streets of the city.

18th Annual Autumn Harvest Dinner at Gramercy Tavern
September 26
A Champagne and hors d’oeuvres reception is followed by a five-course dinner donated and prepared by a phenomenal line-up of chefs from across the country: Nick Anderer of Maialino, Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, Jonathan Benno of Lincoln, Michael Tusk of Quince, and Nancy Olsen, Pastry Chef at Gramercy Tavern. Renowned sommeliers Paul Grieco of Hearth and Terroir, Francesco Grosso of Marea, Steve Olson of aka wine geek and Juliette Pope of Gramercy Tavern will be on hand for world-class wine pairings. Attend the silent auction of wine, epicurean, travel, and luxury lifestyle packages. All benefits and proceeds will go to Share Our Strength.

Queens Restaurant Week
September 26 – 29
With more than 2.3 million residents, about half of whom were born in a foreign country, it's no surprise that Queens has an extensive, diverse array of top-quality but affordable restaurants. Restaurants will offer special three-course prix fixe menus for only $25. Participating restaurants offer lunch, dinner, or both.

The Art of Farming at Sotheby’s Auction House

This event will assemble local farmers, purveyors, food industry experts, and eminent New Yorkers based on a shared interest in the vitality of the Greenmarket. The event will raise funds for charities GrowNYC and The Sylvia Center. Industry veterans like Dan Kluger, Alexandra Guarnaschelli, Ralf Kuettel, Jeremy Bearman, and Jimmy Carbone will be on hand during an event-filled day that includes cocktail reception, auction, benefactor’s dinner, and high-profile gallery talks.

Malaysia Noodle Festival
September 27
In the vibrant setting of the Chelsea triangle, surrounded by colorful tents, umbrellas, and lanterns reminiscent of the open-air markets of Kuala Lumpur and Penang, the Malaysia Noodle Festival will showcase the astonishing variety of Malaysian noodle dishes by restaurants in New York City and the Tri-State area.

Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival
September 29 – October 2
Get your fill of food and celebrity at the fourth annual Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, presented by Food & Wine. 100 percent of the net proceeds benefit charity. The Festival benefits and is hosted by the Food Bank For New York City, fighting hunger in the five boroughs; and Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit working to end childhood hunger in America. In 2010, the Festival raised more than $1.2 million for these charities, helping them better provide for those they serve and closing the gap on hunger in our country.

Paula Wolfert, "The Food of Morocco"

Cookbook author Paula Wolfert's name is synonymous with revealing the riches of authentic Mediterranean cooking, especially the cuisine of Morocco. In this Culinary Historians of New York event, she’ll trace the history of Moroccan cuisine.
